National School Counseling Week
February 1 - 7, 2016
The purpose of National School Counseling Week is to focus public attention on the unique contributions of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. CASC is committed to helping you advocate for your profession and one simple way to do that is to celebrate National School Counselor Week.
Do not wait for someone else to celebrate you - Start planning now! To help you CASC has provided a list of activities that you can do to promote National School Counseling Week. We have provided a proclamation that can be awarded by the superintendent, school board, mayor or other dignitary. Accepting a proclamation can be an ideal time to conduct a presentation to the school board on how school counselors make a difference. Due to the fact that districts have local control over how they budget their money, it is crucial that school counselors continuously help school board members and administrators recognize that school counselors are integral to student success. We can do that by sharing how school counselors create dropout prevention programs, assist students with career planning, violence prevention, and improve college going rates.
