CASC has partnered with CollegeAdmissionTips.com to to get 1,000 copies of The Keys to the CASTLE: Mentor in a Book into the hands of high school students throughout the state of California for free. The Keys to the CASTLE gives college admissions secrets and tips to students and their families who need help navigating the college application process. Author Kamala Appel wrote The Keys to the CASTLE: Mentor in a Book based on her experiences as a former recruiter and interviewer for the Office of Admissions at Yale University. She has teamed up with CASC to help students gain access to insider college admissions information they need at an affordable rate. Students who cannot afford to pay to participate can receive a free copy and coaching if they are members of underrepresented populations at colleges, and/or the first generation to attend college, and are nominated by their school counselor to participate. Preference will be given to motivated juniors (students graduating in spring 2012).
School counselors who are members of CASC may nominate up to 100 students from their school who will be able to receive all of the benefits mentioned below for free; those nominated by school counselors who are not CASC members will be asked to pay $30 for the book and coaching sessions.
Students who are selected will receive the following: (1) a copy of the book, (2) weekly reminders that will help set the pace, and (3) admission to three live teleseminars/webinars that enable students to ask questions and receive clarification. The summer program will run June 20 through August 22, 2011 so that students will be prepared for the college application process come fall of their senior year. Additionally, Brent Scarpo is a transformational speaker and can present the Journey program to your school through various assemblies. Here is what people are saying about both products:
"The message of mutual respect and human acceptance is a message in need of champions such as this program. I know many of our students were deeply touched by this powerful and promising image of the past horrors and future hope of the human spirit." - Daniel Behm, Superintendent of Schools Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools, Flint, Michigan
"I was very touched by the program as I have been a victim of religious hate because of I am Jewish." - Ryan, 10th grader, Pocono Mountain West High School
