Kirsten Barnes (Parliamentarian) is currently the lead counselor at Hanford West High School. She is also on the Hanford Joint Union High School District school districts bargaining team and was also the union president for the district for many years. Kirsten loves advocating for the rights of school counselors and teachers and continues her efforts at the state level where she was appointed by the Governor to serve as a Commissioner for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Kirsten was also State Council Representative for the California Teachers Association (CTA) for 11 years and served on the Student Support Services Committee for 9 years. From 2013-14, Kirsten served as President of CASC. Kirsten lives with her husband and “fur babies” and enjoys spending time reading and relaxing by the water.

Rosemary Rubin (Emeriti and Bylaw Committee Chair) is a founding member of CASC and was instrumental in the behind the scene efforts to help get CASC off the ground. She has served on many positions on the CASC board including, Los Angeles Area Representative, Secretary and Parliamentarian. Rosemary is an expert on suicide prevention and has trained individuals on suicide prevention strategies throughout the state. She retired a number of years ago from the Los Angeles Unified School District after serving as a teacher, school counselor, Suicide Prevention Coordinator and Organization Facilitator. She enjoys being be involved in numerous community groups including co-chairing the Los Angeles County Child and Adolescent Suicide Review Committee and serving on the board of her homeowner’s association. She loves to read, travel and attend plays.
