School Counselor of the Year Hails from Central Valley Small District

For several years, the Small School Districts' Association (SSDA) has enjoyed a strong partnership with the California Association of School Counselors (CASC), and we will continue to forge that relationship as the true toll of the pandemic on student mental health comes to light.
It is imperative that the needs of students in our small and geographically isolated areas of the state be given the same time, attention and care as their more urban and suburban peers. For that reason, and several others, we are thrilled to announce that Alma Lopez from the Livingston Unified School District (LUSD) has been named the 2021 California School Counselor of the Year. This annual award recognizes one individual for excellence in the field of School Counseling.
