As school counselors, we have the opportunity to share, discuss and celebrate culture, family and teach diversity.
We can be intentional in our activities, raise awareness, and build excitement about Black History Month. Here are some ideas:
- Create a PowerPoint of Black History Month facts to be shown during school assemblies.
- Conduct classroom visitations focusing on diversity & acceptance of others. For example, read a book aloud or conduct a short lesson.
- Plan a lunch celebration or fun activity.
- Create a digital bulletin board with Black History Facts, such as famous African American inventors, etc.
