Over the years I have had the privilege of serving on several state-level committees with the purpose of creating documents (i.e. standards, policy proposal, program development). What I have learned from these experiences is that there is priority given to feedback received from practitioners and from the public. Oftentimes, the committees I have served on have considered every single comment and often those comments are discussed by the entire development/writing team. Below is one of those chances for your feedback to be considered. A team facilitated by the California Department of Education are in the latter stages of writing the 2019 Health Education Framework for California Public Schools, Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve. An invitation went out to Superintendents and others last week asking for input. That letter and links to the draft document are below. I believe a strong school counseling voice would be valued by the team, in particular, the broad perspective that are shared by school counseling professionals in the area of mental health, trauma and suicide, to name a few. Thank you. Invitation to Submit Public Comment on the Draft 2019 Health Education Framework for California Public Schools, Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve
