As the Butte County region still reels from the worst fire in California history, educators are faced with the challenging task of creating a sense of normality for their students. CASC officials have been in touch with school counselors from Paradise Unified School District, which was hit hardest with multiple school buildings lost to the fires. School officials have set up storefront classrooms all over the city in such places as Home Depot. Just imagine, one of the counselors has their office in the paint department. In December, CASC worked with Butte County to coordinate volunteers to help in the initial phase of returning to work. We have also extended an invitation to the Paradise USD school counseling team to attend the CASC Northern California Conference for free. Additionally, we will be collecting donations at the conference. According to Paradise counselors, most beneficial items for them would be gift cards (i.e. Amazon, Target), but any donation would be appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
