INTRO TO RESTORATIVE PRACTICES

Are you interested in gaining a deeper knowledge in Restorative Practices (RP)?

As part of the CASC Professional Development Series, this two-day certificate-level training introduces participants to the fundamentals of RP.  This training will be held at the CASC Office and Training Center in Ontario on Saturday and Sunday, March 21-222020 from 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM each day. This course is a pre-requisite for advanced coursework offered by the recognized authority in RP, International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP).

The training sequence is provided by a school counselors who is a certified IIRP trainer and a certificate of completion will be provided to all participants at the conclusion of the training.  CASC is offering this training to address the great number of CA school district administrators and school counselors who have expressed a desire to better meet the social/emotional needs of students, including establishing positive discipline protocol and resolving the high suspension rates.

Training content supports LCAP priorities - Student Engagement and School Climate.  It can be integrated into a multi-tiered system of behavioral supports and is well-researched and hailed by districts nation-wide as a solution for building a positive atmosphere at their schools.  The training is limited to 30 individuals.  We anticipate that it will sell out quickly, so register early!   Just $199 for current members! ($299 for non-members.) All materials, including a light breakfast and lunch for both days, are included in the cost of registration. Register at right or download a registration form.

FIVE REASONS TO ATTEND THIS SEMINAR

  1. It supports the continuum of restorative processes from developing a restorative mindset, to day to day practices and implementing restorative circles. After being trained, providing a mini training to your teaching staff would be of value in any school setting.

  2. Implementation of RP fits within the LCAP School Climate designation and would be of value for most schools as a strategy for reducing suspensions and expulsions.

  3. With the recent institutionalization of California's Dashboard (a new way of measuring school effectiveness), school administrators will be looking for solutions to improve behavior related issues and to increase school connectedness.

  4. It is a prerequisite for the RP advanced certification and Trainer of Trainers program offered by IIRP. This would be a great addition to anyone's resume!

  5. Being certified in RP would send a strong message to current and future employers/school administration regarding a desired skill-set they would want on their school campus.
