A Spirit of Gratitude

With Thanksgiving week upon us, traditionally many of us pause to express gratitude for the things we value. While this is a special time of reflection, it is noteworthy to remind us of the value of counting our blessings year-round.
With Thanksgiving week upon us, traditionally many of us pause to express gratitude for the things we value. While this is a special time of reflection, it is noteworthy to remind us of the value of counting our blessings year-round. Research from Harvard Medical School indicates that being grateful makes us feel better overall. In particular, having a spirit of gratitude results in more positive emotions, greater enjoyment in amiable experiences, improves our health, helps us deal with adversity and builds strong relationships — all important traits both in and out of the workplace. To compliment this holiday season tradition, I asked the CASC board members, staff and other volunteers to tell us what they are thankful for as school counseling professionals. Click here to see what our CASC team had to say.
