Breaking news: LAUSD reached a tentative agreement with teachers and support staff!

In support of district and the union, CASC prepared this official statement: "CASC stands behind the LAUSD teachers, school counselors, nurses and other support staff as they go on strike. Their union representatives are asking for a number of concessions from their district, one of which is for additional funding for the hiring of more school counselors. CASC supports UTLA and it's efforts."

CASC has collaborated and spoke with counselors and other leaders within LAUSD throughout this process and is happy to say that a tentative agreement has been reached and includes the following addition for school counselors in LAUSD:

Counselors: The district will hire at least 17 additional full-time Counselors by October 1, 2019, allowing the district to maintain a counseling service ratio of 500-1 per secondary school.

Great news indeed and a step forward toward improving counselor to student ratios!
