Regional Professional Development (PD) Coordinator Proposal (Northern CA Position Open)

CASC is expanding their professional development outreach to accommodate the increasing need for local, county and regional-level trainings. 
CASC is expanding their professional development outreach to accommodate the increasing need for local, county and regional-level trainings. Regional PD Coordinators will guide CASC's efforts in providing CASC members and others with relevant local- and regional-level trainings. Regional Professional Development Coordinators will be responsible to host creative training events and educational programs in their area of oversight. Regional Professional Development Coordinators will receive an annual stipend of $1,000. Mileage, accommodations (when needed) and other expenses will be reimbursed. Selection to these positions will be made on an annual basis. CASC encourages school counselors and counselor educators to apply. Currently CASC is only seeking to fill a position for a Northern California representative. We anticipate other regional positions to become available in the near future. 

Responsibilities of Regional Professional Development Coordinator 

Regional Professional Development Coordinators responsibilities include communicating with CASC staff to identify local training needs and mapping out professional development plans for teams and individuals in their area of oversight. In coordination with CASC staff, Regional Professional Development Coordinators are responsible for managing local training logistics including securing presenters, exploring local relevant training topics, food, facilities, and evaluating the quality of the training offered. Ultimately, the role of the Regional PD Coordinator is to oversee CASC sponsored professional development in the area of oversight. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate with CASC staff on the development of training programs (outsourced and/or in-house)
  • Conduct regional training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
  • Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new trainings needed/available
  • Ensure educational aids and materials are secured prior to training
  • Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on trainee's skills
  • Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding instructional design
