Being a Local Advocate: The politics affecting California school counselors and how to respond at the school and district level.

Virtual Webinar - CASC members only (not a member? Join today!)

The wide range of school counselor duties also includes the role of advocate and leader. This presentation focuses on recognizing the politics impacting school counseling programs at the state, local, and site level and understanding the natural relationship between activism and the everyday work of school counselors. Participants will learn how to direct change in policy and law at the local, as well as the state level by emphasizing the practices and strategies used every day to serve students.

Presented by Lee Angela Reid

Lee Angela Reid is a partner at Capitol Advisors Group, a leading education advocacy firm in the state. Capitol Advisors Group has served as the advocate for CASC for the past eight years. Prior to joining Capitol Advisors, Lee Angela spent 23 years in the State Capitol working on K-12 issues.
