Training Programs for LEAs
Navigating Excellence: Implementing the California School Counselor Standards
This full-day training provides an in-depth overview of the 2023 California Standards for the School Counseling Profession (CSSCP), which outline the roles and responsibilities of school counselors in educational settings. It is designed to empower school counseling teams with a solid understanding of these standards and practical strategies for implementing them within a comprehensive school counseling program.
Objectives: Participants will learn how these standards support equitable practices, address the holistic needs of all students, and foster transformative social-emotional, academic, and career development. Through a focus on key standards such as the use of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) approach for delivering services and collaborating with school and community partners for meeting student mental health needs, counselors will discover practical tools and strategies for implementation.
By the end of the training, counselors will complete a self assessment to help them identify their individual and team goals and develop an action plan to implement the standards, empowering them to advocate for their role, drive positive change, and deliver impactful support to their school communities.
Intended Audience: Participants are encouraged to attend in teams. Ex. TK-12 School Counselors, District and/or Site Administrators, County Office Staff, University Professors, Paraprofessionals who support the work of School Counselors, and others as deemed appropriate by the LEA/CMO/County.
