Role of the Reviewer

Reviewers work collaboratively to review and score school applications and determine the appropriate level of recognition based on the evidence submitted. Reviewers also provide feedback to support the integrity, consistency, and continuous improvement of the recognition process.

Those interested in serving as reviewers should:

• Have knowledge and understanding of the California Standards for the School Counseling Profession and effective school counseling practices.
• Successfully complete CASC reviewer training annually.
• Commit to participating for the entirety of their selected review period.
• Review applications objectively and consistently using the designated scoring rubric.
• Maintain the confidentiality of applicant information and submitted materials.
• Disclose any potential conflicts of interest and refrain from reviewing applications for which a conflict exists.
• Collaborate professionally with other reviewers throughout the scoring process.

Serving as a reviewer provides an opportunity to contribute to the school counseling profession while learning from exemplary practices being implemented in schools throughout California.
